Power on Death’s Borders: Fuga’s Camposanto for the Hospital of the Incurabili and the Politics of Burial Reform in Eighteenth-Century Naples
The seminar focuses on the commission, design and operational results forged by Ferdinando Fuga’s ‘Camposanto’ or cemetery of the Incurabili hospital in Naples in the context of late eighteenth-century burial reform debates. It investigates the project’s social and sanitary aims as well as its broader place within the Bourbon monarchy’s expansionist efforts.
