Early Italian Renaissance and Baroque art, feminist theory
Sofia Penny is a first-year master’s student at The Edith O’Donnell Institute of Art History at The University of Texas at Dallas. In 2022, she earned a B.A. in Art History and a B.A. in Studio Art with a concentration in Painting from Texas State University. During her time at Texas State, she served as a teaching assistant for several professors in her undergraduate program. She has also completed internships in curatorial, development, and archival roles. Following her graduation, Sofia managed an art gallery, where she applied the skills acquired during her undergraduate studies and internships.
Her undergraduate thesis concentrated on two prominent Italian female artists, Artemisia Gentileschi and Sofonisba Anguissola. Her current research interests continue to reflect this foundation from her undergraduate studies, as she plans to specialize in Early Italian Renaissance and Baroque art using feminist theory.
